2016 HSV Maloo R8 LSA
This 2016 HSV Maloo R8 LSA is a uniquely-Australian performance car icon. Under the bonnet is a 6.2-litre supercharged LSA V8 engine, pushing out 410kW and 691Nm to the rear wheels. This example is fitted with a TR6060 Tremec six-speed manual transmission and shows 10,957km on the odometer since new.
In the lead up to the end of local manufacturing Holden Special Vehicles created some truly special cars. One of them was the last GEN-F2 iteration of the Maloo R8, which adopted the supercharged LSA V8 of the range-topping HSV GTS and increased power over its successor by 70kW. Not only was it gifted a huge power bump, the Maloo R8 LSA was fitted with a recalibrated bi-modal exhaust, AP Racing brakes, a head-up display, launch control and a driver preference dial with Competition Mode. To farewell the HSV brand and the iconic Australian-built ute, the Maloo R8 LSA (in manual especially) is a special send-off, the likes of which we’ll never see again.
Finished in Heron White over Onyx leather/suede interior trim, this GEN-F2 Maloo R8 presents in a clean, understated specification. The white paintwork is punctuated by Pitch Black exterior trim such as the mirror caps, bonnet vents, fender vents and splitter. It currently rides on a set of gunmetal grey 20-inch Nexus forged wheels with red HSV brake calipers. It currently rides on Pedders fully adjustable coil overs. Tyres are the original Continental ContiSportContact units. The HSV Maloo R8 specification includes four-way adjustable driver’s seat, alloy pedals, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, and an 8.0-inch Bluetooth touchscreen infotainment screen with Bose sound system.
This Maloo R8 LSA was built at HSV’s facility in Clayton, Victoria in January 2016. It is a two-owner car – the current owner bought it in 2017. It comes with a history of services completed at HSV service centres. Between the original and current owner, this car has been kept in largely original condition and can be reverted to factory specification with supplied original componentry.
The Heron White exterior paintwork presents in great condition with next to no marks, nicks, or scratches to be seen on the bodywork. There are two minor marks – one on the tonneau cover near the sail plane and one on the driver’s side front bar. All four wheels show no signs of damage and the tyres retain a good amount of tread depth. The tub-liner is protected by a rubber mat and shows little signs of use.
Interior condition is said to be “as new”, with little sign of use. Leather upholstery has held up well over the last five years and suede accenting shows little wear. Some minor creasing can be seen on the leather of the seat bolsters, though the remaining interior trim looks to be in near factory condition. All infotainment and screen functions operate as normal and no dash warning signs show.
All accompanying service history, car manuals and documentation will be supplied with a successful sale. The original wheels and suspension set-up will be sold with the car.
