2015 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Mille Miglia 417 Edition

This 2015 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Mille Miglia 417 is a unique special edition car built to commemorate Mercedes-Benz’s unlikely victory at the 1955 Mille Miglia road rally in Italy. It is powered by a 4.7-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that sends 335kW/700Nm to the rear wheels. The powertrain is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, while the chassis is fitted with adaptive dampers and Curve Dynamic Assist to enable ultimate driving dynamics. This example in particular shows 40,920km on the odometer since new.

Marking 60 years since American driver John Fitch and navigator Kurt Gessl won the 1955 Mille Miglia in a 300SL, Mercedes-Benz Australia unveiled the commemorative Mille Miglia 417 limited edition SL-Class at Motorclassica in 2015. The Mille Miglia is one of the world’s most challenging long-distance rallies and the 300SL outgunned more-powerful cars and more experienced teams to win its class after a gruelling 11 hours, 29 minutes and 21 seconds. The number 417 in this car’s name references the original 300SL’s competition number. It was available in both six-cylinder SL400 variant, or the more-powerful eight-cylinder SL500 version as seen here. A host of visual enhancements, commemorative badges, and luxury upgrades set this special edition aside from regular Mercedes-Benz SL500s.

Finished in Magnetite Black metallic over a red/black leather interior, this SL500 Mille Miglia is highlighted by various red highlights both inside and out. It also stocks a set of AMG sports seats, matte-finish carbon fibre trim, and AMG performance alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. Red brake calipers also stand out on this special edition car.

This one-owner car was manufactured in September 2015, complied in November 2015, and delivered new through Mercedes-Benz Doncaster. It has been meticulously cared for throughout its life; always garaged, never crashed, and never tracked. All servicing has been completed on-time at 3 Point Mercedes-Benz. The most-recent service was completed in February 2021 where regular maintenance occurred and no items of concern were raised.

The Magnetite Black metallic exterior paintwork on this Mille Miglia 417 looks as-new, retaining a factory level of shine and reflection. Exterior condition on the whole presents very well – no known nicks, marks, or scratches grace the bodywork and the car retains all Mille Miglia badging. Some of the black exterior trim has weathered with age, as is common on German cars. There is some minor curb rash on the driver’s side front wheel, but the rest are unmarked of damage. All four Continental ContiSportContact tyres show a good level of tread depth remaining.

Interior condition is described as excellent. The AMG sports seats are in fantastic condition, showing minimal wear and hold their original shape. All carbon fibre trim accents and the leather dash show next to no signs of wear and tear. Interior features such as the heated and ventilated seats, air scarf, Harman/Kardon sound system and the electric-adjust seats with 3 stage dynamic cornering function all operate as normal. The power-operated hard-top roof retracts perfectly, too. Original Mille Miglia floor mats are retained and look to be in great condition.

This car will be sold alongside all accompanying documentation and servicing data. The personalised plates are not included in the sale.
