2015 Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage
This 2015 Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage edition represents a rare opportunity to acquire a low-mileage, special edition example of the most iconic off-roader of all time. Under the bonnet is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces 90kW and 320Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows just 13,096km.
Few manufacturers set out to create an icon, but the Land Rover Defender has garnered that legendary status over a long history of dependability and capability. It’s an unashamed workhorse heralded as one of the greatest off-road vehicles by enthusiasts the world over. Over two million examples were sold over a 67-year production run which ended in 2015 due to stringent safety standards. The name did continue on with a revised new generation model, though this new Defender is a far cry from the original – despite being a nice car in its own right. The Heritage edition marked the final run of original Defenders with retro trim appointments and a special colour scheme. It’s one of 400 worldwide and these final editions are hard to come by, making this example as a rare opportunity.
Finished in throwback colour Grasmere Green on the outside with a retro-correct white roof, this car also selects cream-upholstered seats for a period specific combination. Being a Heritage edition, this car equips clear indicator lamps, contrasting hinges, a silver front bumper, a unique grille, metallic badging, steel body-coloured wheels, and a body-coloured dash. This car has been unmodified since new and retains its original delivery specification. It rides on a set of 16-inch steel wheels running Continental all-terrain tyres.
Built new in Solihull, England in 2015 and complied new in Australia in October 2015, this Defender is an Australian-delivered vehicle. It has had a single owner since new who purchased it to sit as part of a car collection. It was not driven from the time of purchase until 2020 – since then it has been used sparingly as seen by its low mileage. The last maintenance was completed by Melbourne City Land Rover in July 2021.
Exterior condition of this Defender is immaculate. The Grasmere Green paintwork shows in resplendent order throughout and no signs of deterioration are observed. All exterior componentry including grilles, lights, and mirrors appear without scratching or patina. Even details as small as the “HUE 166” graphic remain as new. No curb rash damage is found on the four painted wheels while the Continental tyres retain a deep tread block.
Interior-wise, the cabin has fared in similar fashion. There are no signs of deformation or stains on the beige-upholstered seats, which retain their original shape. The dashboard and headlining appear unharmed and the rubber floor mats present as-new. The plastic door cards and seat backs show no scratches and all instrumentation operates normally. Some marks of scuffing are seen on the rubber flooring, commensurate with use.
