2012 McLaren MP4-12C
This 2012 McLaren MP4-12C is a clean and unmodified example of the British marque’s first-ever car built and designed completely in-house. Under the rear decklid is a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine generating 441kW/600Nm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through McLaren’s seven-speed dual-clutch Seamless Shift Gearbox. McLaren says the MP4-12C can run from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 333km/h. This example currently shows 30,502km on the odometer since new.
After more than a 10-year hiatus, McLaren burst onto the supercar scene in 2011 with the MP4-12C. It utilised a technologically-advanced turbocharged powertrain where rivals used traditional naturally-aspirated engines and stocked a series of F1-derived technologies that saw it become one of the fastest cars in its era. These included a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, various aerodynamic design influences, and a fast-shifting dual-clutch transmission. Following the McLaren F1 and the brand’s involvement in the Mercedes-McLaren SLR, the MP4-12C became McLaren’s best and most well-rounded product to date.
This example of the McLaren MP4-12C wears a striking Volcano Red over tan leather specification along with a strong selection of option packages. Options on this car include the Meridian surround sound system, sports exhaust, parking sensors and carbon fibre exterior accents. It features a set of staggered Stealth grey wheels, 19-inch up front and 20-inch at the rear, while silver brake calipers set of the specification nicely.
Built in May 2012 and subsequently delivered new through McLaren Sydney, this two-owner car has been well maintained and features a full service history. Initial works were completed by McLaren Sydney and McLaren Melbourne, though later servicing was done by McLaren specialist Goodwood Garage in Melbourne. The most recent visit included four new Pirelli P Zero tyres and a full regular service. This car is also fitted with paint protection film on the entire front front of the vehicle along with the forward facing parts of the carbon side infill, rear quarter panels and rear bumper.
Volcano Red metallic paintwork of this 12C presents well for its age, retaining a good level of shine. Its ability to change hues in different light is still evident. The car could benefit from a cut and polish, though no overt paint damage is observed. There is one mark on the front bumper above the licence plate, as shown in the images. Carbon fibre side blades and black accenting still look as-new. All four alloy wheels are unmarked and since the photos of this vehicle were taken has had brand new Pirelli P Zero tyres fitted.
Great care has been taken of this car’s interior. The factory tan leather upholstery largely retains its colour and shape while the black leather dash is still taut and features contrast stitching. Touch points around the interior show little signs of wear and the original floor mats remain in good condition.
This McLaren MP4-12C is eligible for McLaren extended warranty through a McLaren dealership. It will be sold along with its full service history and all accompanying documentation including user guides and manuals.
