THE AUCTION IS UNDER PROXY BIDDING
2008 FPV F6 (FG) Sedan
This 2008 Ford Performance Vehicles F6 (FG) is an Australian performance car icon, featuring a tuned “Barra” engine to extract even more power. Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine which produces 335kW (450hp). This power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The odometer of this car currently shows 197,794km.
Most people think of Australian muscle cars and picture Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores with large displacement V8s, but the discerning enthusiast knows the inline six-cylinder “Barra” engine is something special in its own right. Already fitted to the Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo, Ford Performance Vehicles modified the Barra engine in its F6 by adding a modified airbox, larger intercooler, high-flow fuel pump, and a high-flow exhaust system. This meant 310kW from factory, and real-world performance that often bettered its bigger brother, the FPV GT V8. It’s often flown under the radar as a high-performance derivative of the regular Falcon range, with subtle wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing styling and an incredibly reliable six-cylinder engine. The Barra motor is revered throughout the world for its ability to hold big power modifications. These days the FPV F6 is no longer in production and values are set to increase with time.
Painted in grey metallic on the outside and finished inside with black upholstery, this F6 specification presents subdued. There have been some subtle performance modifications made to this example which include upgraded spark plugs, Walbro fuel pump, and intercooler pipe upgrade. It also has a genuine V8-style bonnet with enlarged power dome. The car rides on a set of original 19-inch alloy wheels, painted in grey with silver lip. Under the wheels hide red Brembo brake calipers. Tyres are low-profile Kumho Ecsta/Michelin Pilot Sports.
Built new in Broadmeadows, VIC as car #169, this F6 was Australian complied in late 2008. It has since passed through the hands of three owners, with the most recent holding the car since 2015. Since his ownership, the car has undergone local mechanic servicing every 10,000km. The last maintenance was completed one year ago – the car has travelled 500km since then. Items replaced recently include new bushes and new intercooler piping. The car has been tuned by D’nello Performance to extract 335kW at the rear wheels.
Exterior condition is good for the car’s age and mileage. The grey paintwork displays without marks or chips, especially considering the bonnet and front bar were resprayed recently. The paint reflects nicely in the sun and shows strong fleck in the metallic finish. There is one minor scratch identified on the driver’s side mirror. Wheels show without major damage, however one shows slight marks. Tyres appear to be in good order.
Inside the cabin this F6 has fared decently with typical signs of use over its lifetime. The leather shows minor signs of sag at the front and rear, while the bolstering appears with some stress marks too. Lower plastic trims of the door card appear patchy and could be rejuvenated. Other signs of scratching are seen on the centre console.
This car will come with two keys, matching FPV number plates, though no tool sets are supplied.
