2007 Porsche 911 (997) Carrera S Cabriolet

This 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet (997) is a clean-presented car which benefits from a solid service history and a tidy level of factory equipment. Under the rear decklid is a naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six-cylinder engine which develops 261kW/400Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows only 93,270km.

Following the 996-generation 911, Porsche unveiled the 997 in 2004 as a wholesale revision of its predecessor. Most changes were subtle under-the-skin tweaks, but styling evolved with new headlights and tail-lights, better equipment such as larger wheels, and a rounded body with accentuated front haunches. The 997 brought a new S variant with a larger engine and more power over the base Carrera, and added key equipment such as lowered suspension with adjustable dampers, upgraded brakes, and sports exhaust. Interestingly, development of the 997 Cabriolet led the design and engineering effort at Porsche with the coupe following. This was to ensure the cabriolet performs almost identically to its hard-top counterpart. Porsche’s Carrera Cabriolet was also available in S specification and features the same upgraded equipment as the regular Carrera S coupe.

Pained in black on the outside with a black leather-upholstered interior, this 911’s specification has wide appeal. The automatic soft-top roof is black fabric, while elements of the interior show silver trim. There are no obvious aftermarket modifications to speak of, though the car selects choice options including heated front seats, leather steering wheel, and a Bose sound system. Also fitted is a set of spacers for the 19-inch Sport Design alloy wheels, plus a valve control system for the exhaust. Pirelli P Zero tyres are currently fitted.

Built in Germany and delivered new to the United Kingdom, this imported 997 has since found a home in Australia. The current owner believes he is the third owner overall, with the car making its way to Australia in 2011. All servicing has been completed between official Porsche dealerships and specialist independents. The last recorded maintenance occurred in August 2022 at AutoArt. The current owner has replaced the clutch and flywheel with a sportier setup and has also fitted high-flow cats.

Exterior condition is clean for a car of its age and mileage. The black paintwork appears without obvious fault or scratching, and shows clear reflections in the light. Some minor points of stone chipping is seen around the bonnet and front bar, while subtle scratching is seen around the left front guard, driver’s door, and bonnet. According to the owner the roof mechanism does need servicing, though it does function. Wheels show some signs of clear coat flaking, while some kerb rash is identified on the rear. Tyres appear in near new condition.

Inside the cabin this 911 presents in fair order, with clean seats, carpets, and headliner. There is some significant creasing to the seat bolsters and the shifter appears worn. Some more wear is seen on the door cards and centre console. The leather of the dash fascia, handbrake and rear seats shows some small scratch marks. The seller notes the air conditioning does need re-gassing.
