THE AUCTION IS UNDER PROXY BIDDING
2007 BMW (E66) 760Li
This BMW 760 Li is a superb example of the BMW’s rare and range-topping flagship of the mid-noughties. Under the bonnet is a smooth 6.0-litre V12 producing 439bhp and 443lb-ft of torque, powering the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently shows 203,877km.
The fourth generation of BMW’s flagship 7 Series is known as the E65 and E66, with the latter being designated for the long wheelbase variants. Offered in petrol and turbo-diesel straight-six and V8 engines, the petrol V12 engine was saved for the flagship model. The 7 Series has always been the point of technological innovation that has flowed down into lower models and the E65 generation is best known for the introduction of BMW’s famed iDrive which is still found in current models today. The 760Li was also famed for being the world’s first V12 production engine to use direct injection. Other technological highlights to come from this generation include active anti-roll bars, directional headlights, soft close doors, and the world’s first car to just an electric parking brake.
March 2005 brought the facelift update to the E65/66 known as LCI which brought major changes such as revised styling to bodywork and lights, iDrive updates and an increase in the track width of the vehicle by 14mm. This current LCI example has had only one previous owner with the current purchasing the vehicle in 2012 from BMW Melbourne after it was sold new as an Australian delivered example.
Servicing has been through BMW dealerships with its most recent servicing being carried out by Southern BM. The seller notes that the vehicle is mechanically sound and there is a small power steering fluid leak which may be coming from the suspension system, the seller also notes that the electric steering column can adjust in and out but no longer up and down. The park brake light is also showing an error.
Finished in the extremely rare colour of BMW Onyx Blue Metallic this 760Li has evidently been well-cared for by its owners. There are some stone chips visible on the bonnet and front bumper and a minor mark is present on the drivers side of the rear bumper. The light lenses, glass, bright window surrounds and door handle grips present well with no damage, and the car retains its V12 wing badges and model designation. It rides on the correct model-specific 20-inch ‘Style 149’ alloy wheels, which show some marks.
Inside, this example is heavily loaded with options as would be expected with the pinnacle of the 7 Series range. Among the highlights are electrically-adjustable and heated memory seats for the front and the outer rear occupants, with all exhibiting only light signs of use and no rips or tears in their coverings. This example is equipped with features such as TV tuner, electrically-operated window blinds, sunroof, CD and DVD changers, and a Logic 7 surround-sound system.
The most recent service was carried out by Southern BM with recent servicing also carried out by Waverly BMW in which items such as the sunroof drain, coils and air conditioner were attended to, including the replacement of the transmission by Waverly BMW in 2017.
The sale includes one key and recent receipts of service work carried out, the original service and log books are no longer with the car.
