2003 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4S
This 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe (996) is a face-lift, manual example of the 996-generation 911 which has an extensive service history strictly through Porsche dealers. It is powered by a rear-mounted 3.6-litre flat-six-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine which sends 235kW/370Nm to the rear wheels. This car features a six-speed manual transmission. It currently shows 87,324km on its odometer.
Often written off as the unloved 911, the 996-generation 911 has long flown under the radar – though it’s now enjoying prominent time in the limelight. Introduced in 1998, the 996 was the first generation 911 to get a watercooled engine, which admittedly caught Porsche enthusiasts off-guard. But a comprehensive array of updates, and a new platform, brought the 911 nameplate into the new millennium. It wasn’t long until Porsche introduced a facelift update in 2002 which gave the 911 Carrera 4S a Turbo-style body with a more aggressive front fascia and wider stance. It also received a larger 3.6-litre engine over the pre-facelift which allowed for more power and better performance. Not only is the 996 appreciated as true driver’s car, but values are beginning to rise alongside other better recognised generations. The Carrera 4S is one of the most desirable variants, along with the GT3 and Turbo.
Finished in the period-perfect Seal Grey colour, this facelifted Carrera 4S is specified inside with black leather. The car is optioned with a Bose sound system and features a sunroof. It rides on a set of 18-inch Porsche Sports Techno alloy wheels which are traditionally found on the 996 Turbo S, wrapped in Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres.
This Carrera 4S was complied in Australia in April 2003 and delivered new through Porsche Centre Parramatta. It was then on sold to its second owner in 2004 until October 2021 when the current owner purchased the vehicle, making 3 owners from new in total. In that period of time it has only been serviced through the Porsche dealer network and the last 16 years through Porsche Centre Melbourne. The most recent being a major service in November 2021 which included fluids, spark plugs and new set of floor mats. The rear tyres have also been changed 3 months ago and only travelled 350kms since then.
Exterior presentation of this 911 is great for its age and mileage. The Seal Grey paintwork appears without any major markings or scratches and reflects nicely in the light with the exception of a mark to the drivers side front bumper. Some very minor stone chipping is seen on the lower front bar, consistent with normal use. Scratching is seen on the underside of the plastic front splitter. The wheels present in good condition overall with a good amount of tread, though some curb rash is visible.
Inside the cabin this 911 also presents in good order. The black leather upholstery shows nicely throughout, only with minor signs of wear. The black carpeting and floor mats contain no obvious stains or scuffs. Door trims and dash presentation appears to be in fine condition, while the headlining also shows no sag or damage.
This car will come with a full suite of original books, two keys, and various receipts. The seller notes the buttons on the spare key are not functioning.
