THE AUCTION IS UNDER PROXY BIDDING
2000 Mercedes-Benz (S210) E55 AMG
This 2000 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG (S210) Estate is understood to be the only one of its kind in Australia, and it’s an extremely clean example at that. Under the bonnet is a 5.4-litre V8 engine which sends 260kW/530Nm to the rear wheels. Like most performance Mercedes-Benzes of the era, this car is fitted with a five-speed automatic transmission. It currently shows 100,259km on the odometer.
The W210 E-Class was first introduced in 1995 as the German manufacturer’s executive-level sedan. Styled under the guidance of design chief Bruno Sacco it shares stylistic attributes of its forebears, but carved a new path to take Mercedes into the new millennium. The S210 Estate arrived a year after the sedan variant and brought extra practicality and seating for up to seven. It was also one of the first AMG products offered after Mercedes-Benz brought AMG in-house. The AMG version was offered with a choice of four engines, but the E55 with its naturally-aspirated V8 was the most widely-recognised and widely-available. In saying that, E55 AMG wagons are particularly rare and roughly 1700 were thought to be hand-built.
Pairing a white-painted exterior with a black leather-upholstered cabin, this E55 flies under the radar as a sleeper. Highlights of its specification include the full AMG body kit on the outside and woodgrain trim panels on the interior. No obvious aftermarket modifications are listed alongside this car. It rides on a set of desirable 18-inch AMG ‘Monoblock’ alloy wheels wrapped in Zeta tyres.
This car was built new in Germany and delivered to Hong Kong. It was brought in to Australia as a personal import, and the current owner purchased it from a Melburnian car collector two years ago. Its history pre-Australia has been lost, but it does document an Australian service history. Recent maintenance works have been completed with Burwood Automotive & Exhaust. It recently had a full service which included new rotors and pads all round.
Exterior condition of this E55 AMG is excellent for a car of its age and mileage. White paintwork displays in great order throughout, retaining nice reflections in the light. Minor stone chipping is seen in some areas, plus scraping is evident under the front bar. Importantly, there have been no known accidents, resprays, or bodywork repairs. All four wheels show in excellent condition without kerb rash and the Zeta tyres appear near-new.
Interior-wise the cabin presentation has fared well. The leather of the seats has kept in good state, though creasing is seen on the front seats. Instrumentation appears without obvious wear and tear and functions as intended. The front seat electronic adjustment functions as normal, though the bolstering and lumbar is no longer working. Additionally, the driver’s seat heating/ventilating is not working. Carpeting, door sill trims, and door cards have escaped scuffing and staining.
This car will come with replacement books, two keys, and recent service receipts. The personalised plates currently registered to the vehicle are not included in the sale.
