This 1988 Ferrari Testarossa is a gorgeous example of the iconic 1980s poster car, presenting with low kilometres and a recent service. Power is supplied by a mid-mounted naturally-aspirated 4.9-litre flat-12-cylinder engine which outputs 287kW/490Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The car’s odometer currently displays 32,876 kilometres.

Reintroducing Ferrari’s iconic Testarossa name, the 1984 Ferrari Testarossa made its debut as an homage to the 1957 250 Testa Rossa race car. The name Testa Rossa translates to “red head” which pays mention to the car’s red-painted cam covers on the flat-12-cylinder engine. The two-door coupe used a rear mid-engine powertrain to aid weight distribution and centre of gravity. This weight distribution increased stability and improved the car’s cornering ability. Following the curvaceous Berlinetta Boxer, Pininfarina gave the Testarossa a straighter-edge design which incorporated controversial aspects such as the side strakes. It’s a design that epitomises the iconic 1980s supercar era thanks to the Testarossa’s prominent feature in Sega’s Out Run video game and the Miami Vice TV show. Today, the Ferrari Testarossa is appreciated for its unconventional styling and unique flat-12 engine sound.

Painted in the endearingly common Rosso Corsa with a black leather-trimmed interior, this Testarossa’s colour combination will find wide appeal. There are no aftermarket modifications made to this car’s original condition aside from a stainless-steel exhaust system. The car is currently fitted with a set of original 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels  wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The seller can also supply a set of Ferrari OZ Racing wheels at additional cost.

This left-hand-drive car was built in Maranello, Italy and supplied new through Cornes Ferrari in Tokyo. It has been with the current owner for a period of five years, where it has enjoyed considered care as part of a 20-strong car collection. The car recently underwent a full service and clutch replacement at Ferrari Perth. Prior to this, the car was serviced at Ferrari Brisbane. It has recently received a paint correction with applied ceramic coating.

Exterior condition is near immaculate, with respect to the car’s age. The Rosso Corsa paintwork shows no overt blemishes and solid reflections can be seen in the finish. The owner notes one minor mark on the front bumper above the indicator light, while a chip appears on the side slat panel behind the passenger door. All four wheels display in excellent order showing no kerb rash.

Inside the cabin this Testarossa appears to be in brilliant condition overall. Light marks of leather creasing can be seen on the seats, though this is expected with age. No stains or transfer marks can be seen on the leather. Likewise, carpeting and the leather-trimmed dash appear without wear and tear. Gauges and instrumentation function as normal and show no marks of repeated use.

All accompanying documentation will be supplied with this car, as will a set of factory replacement side slats and the original tool kit.
