1985 Ferrari 328 GTS
This 1985 Ferrari 328 GTS is a low-kilometre example of a targa-topped classic Ferrari which presents in the quintessential Ferrari colour combination. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.2-litre V8 engine mounted transversely, which produces 201kW/313Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently shows 1,239 miles.
Introduced in 1985 as the replacement for the Ferrari 308, the 328 is a two-seat sports car which utilised parts of its predecessor but upgraded aspects such as the body and engine. Most notably, the engine was enlarged to 3.2 litres for increased output. It also features a more rounded-off body with aerodynamic changes to the front end. A modernised interior was fitted and borrowed parts from the 288 GTO supercar such as backlit orange lighting. The 328 has been described as one of the most usable classic Ferraris because of its durability, appreciating values, and classic aesthetics. It is also one of the most simple Ferraris to perform maintenance on, with many fixes able to be completed without removing the engine from the vehicle.
Presenting in a typical Ferrari colour combination of Rosso Corsa over Nero black leather, this Ferrari turns heads. The left-hand-drive example is a GTS variant with a black targa-top which can be stowed away when not in use. There are no obvious aftermarket modifications which take away from this car’s as-delivered specification. The car sits on a set of original 16-inch alloy wheels which come wrapped in Goodyear tyres.
This is an early-build 328 GTS which was manufactured in 1985 and was delivered to the United States. It is now a four-owner car after arriving in Australia in 2018. It has been serviced between various independents over the course of its life, with receipts detailing its maintenance to be supplied with its sale. The seller states there are no known mechanical faults with the car.
Exterior condition is described as good throughout. Rosso Corsa paintwork displays without obvious scratching and has been repainted in areas in the past. The seller notes some marks around the car consistent with its age, such as the B-pillar and bumpers, though nothing that takes away from the car’s presentation. Some areas require some paint correction but overall, the finish presents nicely. External trim componentry shows in good order, including the roof which is unmarked and fits tightly. All four wheels are unmarked of curb rash and the tyres retain a great amount of tread.
Inside this 328 has fared very well, having completed such low mileage. The Nero leather upholstery shows without wear and tear and the seats retain an original shape. Carpeting and door cards all show without disintegration or marking, while the leather atop the dash appears in good order. Instrumentation and dials function as normal.
This car will come with one key, service books, and receipts for recent work.
