1987 BMW (E30) 325ix

This 1988 BMW 325iX (E30) is a rarefied version of a classic BMW favourite, presenting in a tidy colour combination. Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre inline-six-cylinder engine which outputs 125kW/222Nm through all 4 wheels. This example is fitted with a 4-speed automatic transmission with various drive modes. The odometer of this car currently shows 110,151km.

The unveiling of the BMW E30 3 Series through the mid-1980s took the world by storm. Here was a car that could fit the entire family in comfort, was powered by a choice of strong engines, and was also revered for its impeccable handling qualities. Most notably people knew the E30 for the M3 version, however there were a number of other unique variants such as the 325iX which paired an all-wheel drivetrain underneath the nimble body. This configuration was uncommon for the period and enabled the E30 go much further than its contemporary counterparts thanks to its sturdy traction. All manner of BMW E30s are steadily rising in value as one of the premier collector BMWs, with rare versions such as the 325iX among the most desired.

This car is a left-hand-drive Series 2 BMW E30 which features subtly redesigned styling with plastic bumpers instead of chrome exterior trimmings on the pre-update. It is painted in Diamond Schwarz Metallic and upholstered inside with the sports cloth interior trim. There are no major aftermarket modifications added to this car apart from a set of Eibach lowering springs. It also currently rides on a set of 17-inch Alpina alloy wheel replica with Uniroyal tyres.

Imported from Japan in 2008, this car has remained as part of a collection since coming into the seller’s hands. It has travelled very few kilometres in its current ownership period, having been in storage for many of the last few years. Recent servicing has been completed through German Auto Haus in Cremorne, VIC. The seller describes the vehicle as running beautifully.

The exterior condition of the car presents well. Black paintwork shows in good order overall with no peeling or blemishes – the car underwent a professional detail before being put into storage a few years ago. The seller asserts that chromework and rubber trimmings to the exterior of the car show in perfect order. Some of the Alpina wheel cap centers don’t fit onto the wheel best.

Inside the cabin this E30 shows in clean condition. No discernible cracks are seen in the dashboard which is common for BMWs of the era. The front seats are heated (as delivered from factory) and all four windows are power-controlled.
