1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi

This 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi is a clean-presented classic Ferrari which features a quintessential red colour scheme and an unmodified condition. A mid-mounted 2.9-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine outputs 151kW (202hp) which is sent to the rear wheels. The drivetrain is mated to a five-speed manual transmission in this car. The odometer currently shows 37,256 miles.

The Ferrari 308 GTSi is a two-seat Italian sports car which was manufactured between 1975 and 1985. Through the early 1970s with car makers such as Porsche and Lamborghini, Ferrari’s market share was being eaten up to accommodate new rivals. Enzo Ferrari’s vision with the 308 was to bring the Maranello brand back into the limelight. It was produced in both GTB (hard-top) and GTS (targa-top) versions, while fuel-injected variants like this one came a few years into the 308’s life. The car was designed by Pininfarina, with the GTS model featuring a removable roof panel with a flat black finish, which could be stowed behind the seats when not in use. Today the Ferrari 308 GTSi is a rock-solid Ferrari purchase which oozes character and a rewarding driving experience.

Painted in the classic Rosso Corsa red on the outside and featuring a black leather interior, this car’s specification is typical Ferrari. There have been no obvious aftermarket modifications made to the car which presents as it left the factory in 1980. A Blaupunkt radio is fitted, as is a Ferrari-branded Nardi steering wheel. The car rides on a set of 14-inch Ferrari Campagnolo wheels which are wrapped in Federal tyres.

This car was built in September 1980 and was delivered new to California later that year. It is now a three-owner car which came to be in the seller’s possession three years ago. The car was imported to Australia in 2015 where it sat in a collection in Queensland, before being complied for Australia in 2019 when the seller took ownership. It was last maintained by Ferrari Brisbane in 2019, and it now sits unregistered as part of a private collection.

Exterior condition of this 308 GTSi is very good for the car’s age, with minimal marks of damage seen on the outside of the car. The Rosso Corsa paintwork displays in great order throughout, with a nice sheen and reflection. The only notable points of damage are seen on the front bumper bar edge, and a small touch-up point on the passenger’s side door. All exterior black trim components have been kept in good condition without obvious fade. The wheels show no curb rash and the tyres retain a good amount of tread.

The interior presentation of this 308 has been kept in good order for a car of its age and mileage. The black leather upholstery shows without major staining or scuffing, while displaying only minimal stress marks. There are some tears and fraying in the leather around the driver headrest. Carpeting and dash trim shows in good undamaged condition, while the removable roof appears to be in fine order.

Original toolkit and jack will be provided, though the books were lost by a previous owner.
