1969 Holden Torana LC GTR Coupe Tribute
This 1969 Holden Torana LC GTR Coupe Tribute is an original Torana LC which has been lovingly restored and transformed into GTR specification. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine which sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car currently shows 35,558 miles on its odometer.
Few other cars built in Australia garner the same reputation and respect as the Holden Torana. Made famous through motorsport success at Mount Panorama, the Torana is now revered Australia-wide as collectors begin to snap up high-spec examples such as this one. Where Monaros of the era were sold to more discerning types, the Torana was all fun and games with loud looks and equally ostentatious paintjobs. The LC Torana was the first time the GTR nameplate was seen on the car, which dignified a high-performance sports car variant. It was built to compete alongside its contemporary Monaro GTS stablemate and against Ford’s iconic GT-HO. The Torana went on to replace the Monaro as Holden’s frontline track car in 1970.
Originally delivered as a two-door car in ‘S’ specification, this car’s original spec was Spanish Red with a white roof and red interior. Almost all aspects of the car have been touched in its restoration and build towards its current GTR specification. It now presents in its sporty red colour with black highlights and pinstriping. The interior is now black, too. The engine features triple 45 Webber carburettors and is a highly-tuned version of the 186 cubic inch six-cylinder. It rides on a set of 13-inch steel wheels wrapped in Falken tyres.
This early-build car was delivered new in 1969. The current owner has held the vehicle for the last 15 years and has spent considerable time and effort in restoring it. Part of the works were completed through the Hobson’s Bay Men’s Shed (servicing work), while a bare-metal restoration was undertaken 15 years ago. During this time the interior was fully redone and new rubber seals were replaced. The seller insists the car has no faults and everything works as normal.

Interior-wise, this Torana has been well-preserved since restoration. The black vinyl-upholstered seats show next to no wear and tear, while the dashboard and door cards are also in good condition. Even carpeting appears to be unmarked, testament to the re-trimming works undertaken in this car. Instrumentation and controls all show very minimal signs of wear and tear.
