This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C2) is a numbers matching example of the second-generation Corvette. Featuring an immaculate interior and striking paintwork, it is powered by a 327 cubic inch (5.4-litre) naturally-aspirated V8 engine which produces 300hp. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer of this car currently displays 76,430k miles.

The first major revision of the Corvette shape since the original C1, the Chevrolet Corvette C2 was first unveiled in 1962 and was manufactured until 1967. The slick styling borrowed much of its attributes from the groud breaking Stingray Racer concept of 1959. Not only did it feature a host of upgrades in almost all areas, the Larry Shinoda design was far more purposeful than ever before and was sculpted in a wind tunnel – a first for Corvette. Particular praise was levelled at the car’s nimble handling, thanks to progressive changes to spring rates and its newfound lightweight structure. More than its handling though, the Corvette impressed on sheer power outputs and road-holding ability. Power totalling 300hp was unheard of for the era and ensured the Corvette remained at the pointy end of its period contemporaries.

There’s no mistaking this car for anything other than a Corvette, replete with red paintwork and a red interior. There are chrome trim elements highlighting the bumpers on the outside while the interior is an almost all-red affair, complete with a woodgrain steering wheel. The manual-operated vinyl roof is a beige colour, while the car also comes with a red hard-top. There are no known modifications to this car; it presents in as-delivered specification since new. This means it rides on a set of 15-inch Corvette wheels wrapped in Uniroyal Tiger Paw tyres.

Originally manufactured in Detroit, Michigan in 1964, this car was delivered new to its home market America. It was acquired by the current owner six months ago, where it has been driven around the Sunshine Coast since. All servicing was completed in the USA prior to the current owner’s possession. It is said to be in very good mechanical condition and drives beautifully.

Exterior presentation of this C2 Corvette is fantastic, given the car’s age and mileage. The red paintwork displays without major deterioration and glosses nicely in the light, though some finer points of scratching are seen. Most notably there are paint defects to the left-hand-side headlight. Chrome detailing shows in polished condition for the most part, while badging appears with subtle patina. The leading edge of the beige soft-top roof does show some yellowing with age. All four wheels present without curb rash or damage, while the tyres appear to be in near-new condition.

The cabin of this Corvette is a highlight, with trim and upholstery displaying in immaculate condition for the car’s age. The red vinyl seats show almost no signs of wear and tear and few signs of use are observed on the car’s dash and door cards. Instrumentation and carpeting also appear in fine order.

This vehicle will be sold with a paint touch-up kit, a lead hammer for the spin-off wheels, and its additional hard-top roof.
